252 Vaishanv

darshan

The 252 Vaishnav refers to a revered group of 252 exalted devotees in the Pushtimarg tradition of Vaishnavism, established by Shri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji and carried forward by his son Shri Vitthalnathji (Gusaiji). These 252 devotees are regarded as spiritually elevated souls who lived lives of complete devotion to Shri Krishna. In Pushtimarg philosophy, they represent the living expression of Shri Gusaiji’s grace, reflecting the highest ideals of bhakti through loving service. Their lives and teachings are traditionally recorded in the sacred text Do Sau Bavan Vaishnavan Ki Varta, which narrates their spiritual journeys, devotion, and intimate relationship with Shri Krishna.

Spiritual Classification

The 252 Vaishnav are traditionally arranged into three groups of 84 devotees, each reflecting a distinct devotional temperament:

Satvik – devotion rooted in purity and inner awareness

Rajasik – devotion expressed through action, enthusiasm, and engagement

Tamasik – devotion expressed through steadiness, depth, and surrender

Their Place in Pushtimarg

Pushtimarg, known as The Path of Grace, teaches that spiritual fulfilment emerges through loving service (sevā) offered to Shri Krishna.

The 252 Vaishnav embody this teaching through lives centred on care, attention, and emotional closeness with the divine. Their service took the form of food offerings, music, adornment, and constant remembrance, turning everyday living into an ongoing devotional experience.Their stories emphasise sincerity, humility, and wholehearted surrender as the foundation of spiritual life.
